Flexible Online therapy in Amarillo & across Texas for First Responders & the General Public
About Us

Weeping Pines Integrated Wellness, LLC & Online Therapy in Amarillo: for all of Texas
Weeping Pines Integrated Wellness, LLC is a telehealth practice dedicated to providing compassionate, expert care through online therapy across Texas (border to border). Founded by a provider with firsthand experience in EMS and an educational background with The First Responders’ Academy at Amarillo College, we understand the unique challenges faced by first responders and the broader community as a whole.
We are joined in our practice by Kauhlin Lewis, a fellow EMS veteran and service dog who served on the ambulance with me during my years in the field and academia. Kauhlin loved the operational environment; he was known for herding the crew to the vehicles in the bay the moment tones were dropped, and providing stabilizing, intuitive comfort back at the station between calls. During our time in academia, Kauhlin displayed a remarkable gift for identifying students in distress—offering silent comfort while they navigated difficult academic days or high-stakes skills testing. That same intuitive compassion is a foundation of our practice today.

We specialize in treating general wellbeing, trauma (ASD, PTSD, C-PTSD, etc.), mood disorders, and other mental health challenges with evidence-based approaches tailored to your individual needs. Our flexible appointment options, and our commitment to accessible care ensure that you can receive the support you deserve without disrupting your schedule. Whether you’re a first responder seeking specialized options or a community member looking for compassionate mental health support, Weeping Pines is here to help you heal and thrive through telehelath (online) therapy in Texas.
Our Name
The Mexican Weeping Pine tree (Pinus patula) is a member of a pyrophyte plant class requiring heat from a wildfire (113°F to 140°F) to trigger its ability to spark new life through a process known as serotiny. Like humans, this is a tree that doesn’t just survive adversity, but one that actively uses the absolute devastation of fire as the exclusive mechanism to unlock its true potential.
The toxic environments in which we endure throughout our lives typically won’t simply “cut us down”—it’ll provide the specific intense destruction required to melt the protective barrier around our true calling, worth, and value allowing our “seed” to finally germinate in a healthy way. We humans are resilient, we overcome adversity in phenomenal and miraculous ways; like the Weeping Pines, we too will overcome what life throws at us, but not alone with online therapy in Amarillo (and all of Texas).
No one gets to where they’re going without a little help now and then. If it’s having a travel companion

The Philosophy of Post-Traumatic Growth: Serotiny in Action
In the high-stress, often devastating environments inhabited by First Responders, Veterans, and those facing significant life trauma, the initial feeling is often one of complete scorched-earth destruction. It feels like an ending. But at Weeping Pines Integrated Wellness, LLC, we believe it can be the precise mechanism for a transformative beginning.
Just as the Mexican Weeping Pine requires intense heat to trigger its seed release (a process known as serotiny), human beings are remarkably resilient. The ‘fire’ of burnout, ASD (acute stress disorder), PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), CPTSD (complex-PTSD), or substance use doesn’t just burn us; it has the potential to dissolve the protective, often defensive barriers that prevent us from connecting with our true potential, purpose, and wellness.
We believe integrated care means looking at that whole process—not just managing the immediate symptoms of the burn, but nurturing the environment where the seed of recovery is ready to germinate. By integrating Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and trauma-informed clinical expertise into our online format for therapy within all of Texas, we help you leverage that adversity as fuel. Like the resilient pine sprout, you too can use what once seemed like destruction as the exclusive pathway to unlocking your true worth, resilience, and vitality.

Step 2: The Assessment

Therapy shouldn’t feel aimless. Together, we identify the “wildfires” currently causing distress and the “seeds” of resilience you already possess. We create a map for your recovery that respects your pace and your specific lived experience.
Step 3: The Work

FAQs
Location & Logistics
Q: Do you see clients in person in Amarillo, or just online?
A: While our services are virtual, our roots are in the Panhandle, offering specialized EMS burnout counseling for Amarillo locals and first responders statewide. Telehealth allows you to receive the support you need from the comfort and privacy of your own home, or wherever is most convenient for you.
Though our roots are firmly planted in the Texas Panhandle, we do provide secure online therapy in Texas within all her borders. While our counseling services are virtual, Weeping Pines maintains a strong physical presence in the Amarillo area through dedicated community advocacy. We regularly meet with regional groups, provide local presentations, and work closely with community organizations to champion mental health awareness and support for our local first responders.
Q: How does online therapy work?
A: We utilize a highly secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform that brings the therapy office directly to you. Before your scheduled appointment, you will receive a secure link. When it is time for your session, just click the link from your smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Because we specialize in flexible online therapy in Texas, your “office” can be wherever you have a private space and a good internet connection—whether that is your living room couch, your office on a lunch break, or even parked safely in your vehicle between shifts. As long as you have privacy, we can get to work.
The Therapy Process
Q: What is Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)?
A: SFBT is a forward-looking, goal-directed approach to counseling. While we absolutely acknowledge the past and the heavy challenges you’ve faced, we don’t dwell there. Instead, we focus on your inherent resilience and current strengths to build practical, actionable solutions for your day-to-day life. It is a highly collaborative process designed to help you get unstuck, regain your footing, and move confidently toward the future you want.
Q: What should I expect in the free consultation?
A: Think of the consultation as the “dormant seed” stage of our process—the very first step toward growth. It is a brief, casual, and zero-pressure 15-minute phone or video call meant to ensure we are the right practice to help you. We will briefly discuss the challenges you are facing, answer any questions you have about how online therapy in Texas works or pricing for sessions, and see if our trauma-informed and Solution-Focused approach is the right fit for your goals. Our priority is making sure you feel comfortable and confident before moving forward, so there is absolutely no obligation to commit to a full session afterward.
Q: What happens during the first official session (the intake process)?
A: If the consultation is the dormant seed, your first official session is the “sapling stage.” During this comprehensive first session, it is all about establishing a strong root system for our work together. We will review your intake paperwork (completed by you before your session), explore your background, and get a clearer picture of your current landscape. Because we are building the foundation of your customized treatment plan, this session involves more questions than a typical therapy hour.
It can feel like a lot of information-gathering, but it serves a vital purpose: it allows us to collaborate on a highly focused, actionable treatment plan. Just like a sapling needs secure roots before it can grow, this thorough assessment ensures we have a safe, clear, and collaborative direction moving forward.
Q: What do ongoing therapy sessions look like?
A: Once our roots are established, we enter the “mature growth stage.” These ongoing sessions are where the active work of healing, solution-building, and branching out takes place. We will use this time to focus on your strengths, process challenges, and develop practical tools for your daily life. Just as true growth is dynamic, we will review the goals we set during your first session. As the Treatment Plan is a living document, we will continuously revisit and refine your goals together, ensuring that our approach flexes and changes as your needs evolve and you reach new milestones by utilizing our online therapy in Texas services.
Financial & Insurance
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: We are currently in the credentialing process to become in-network with several major insurance carriers! While we wait for those contracts to be finalized, we are operating as a private-pay practice. However, we are deeply committed to making our services accessible and offer several flexible payment options in the meantime. If you have out-of-network benefits, we can also provide you with a monthly “superbill” to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement.
***Our online therapy in Texas services are now in-network with BCBS of Texas as of 28 April 2026.
Q: What are your rates, and do you offer a sliding scale?
A: Yes, absolutely. We believe in making mental health accessible. We provide affordable sliding scale therapy in Texas to ensure you get the care you need, regardless of your current insurance status. Until our insurance contracts are fully active, we offer customized payment structures:
- Standard Sliding Scale: We offer a flexible sliding-scale rate for the general public, adjusted based on your income and financial need by using local parameters form government-based sliding scale programs.
- First Responder Discount: To honor and support those who serve our community, we offer a specially discounted sliding-scale rate for all local first responders.
- Amarillo College Students: We have a specific, accessible payment arrangement established for students referred to us directly through Amarillo College’s Counseling Center.
