Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Clinical Services & Online Therapy
Answers for individuals, couples, and families exploring virtual behavioral health care.
Q: How does online therapy work across Texas?
A: Our clinical practice is 100% virtual, allowing us to provide seamless, high-quality counseling from border to border. We utilize a secure, fully encrypted, HIPAA-compliant telehealth portal. To participate, all you need is a private space, a stable internet connection, and a smartphone, tablet, or computer equipped with a camera and microphone.
Q: What should I expect in the free consultation?
A: Think of the consultation as the “dormant seed” stage of our process—the very first step toward growth. It is a brief, casual, and zero-pressure 15-minute phone or video call meant to ensure we are the right practice to help you. We will briefly discuss the challenges you are facing, answer any questions you have about how online therapy in Texas works or pricing for sessions, and see if our trauma-informed and Solution-Focused approach is the right fit for your goals. Our priority is making sure you feel comfortable and confident before moving forward, so there is absolutely no obligation to commit to a full session afterward.
Q: What happens during the first official session (the intake process)?
A: If the consultation is the dormant seed, your first official session is the “sapling stage.” During this comprehensive first session, it is all about establishing a strong root system for our work together. We will review your intake paperwork (completed by you before your session), explore your background, and get a clearer picture of your current landscape. Because we are building the foundation of your customized treatment plan, this session involves more questions than a typical therapy hour.
It can feel like a lot of information-gathering, but it serves a vital purpose: it allows us to collaborate on a highly focused, actionable treatment plan. Just like a sapling needs secure roots before it can grow, this thorough assessment ensures we have a safe, clear, and collaborative direction moving forward.
Q: What do ongoing therapy sessions look like?
A: Once our roots are established, we enter the “mature growth stage.” These ongoing sessions are where the active work of healing, solution-building, and branching out takes place. We will use this time to focus on your strengths, process challenges, and develop practical tools for your daily life. Just as true growth is dynamic, we will review the goals we set during your first session. As the Treatment Plan is a living document, we will continuously revisit and refine your goals together, ensuring that our approach flexes and changes as your needs evolve and you reach new milestones by utilizing our online therapy in Texas services.
Q: Do you see clients in person in Amarillo, or just online?
A: While our services are virtual, our roots are in the Panhandle, offering specialized EMS burnout counseling for Amarillo locals and first responders statewide. Telehealth allows you to receive the support you need from the comfort and privacy of your own home, or wherever is most convenient for you.
Though our roots are firmly planted in the Texas Panhandle, we do provide secure online therapy in Texas within all her borders. While our counseling services are virtual, Weeping Pines maintains a strong physical presence in the Amarillo area through dedicated community advocacy. We regularly meet with regional groups, provide local presentations, and work closely with community organizations to champion mental health awareness and support for our local first responders.
Q: Who is eligible for your telehealth counseling services?
A: We provide comprehensive clinical services to individuals, couples, and families. Rather than setting strict age limits, our primary requirement is that the participant must be mature enough to actively engage in a remote therapeutic session. If you are unsure whether virtual care is the right fit for your specific dynamic, we can discuss it during your initial consultation.
Q: What is Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)?
A: SFBT is a forward-looking, goal-directed approach to counseling. While we absolutely acknowledge the past and the heavy challenges you’ve faced, we don’t dwell there. Instead, we focus on your inherent resilience and current strengths to build practical, actionable solutions for your day-to-day life. It is a highly collaborative process designed to help you get unstuck, regain your footing, and move confidently toward the future you want.
Q: What is your standard appointment cancellation policy?
A: We respect your time and reserve a dedicated space exclusively for you. We require a strict 24-hour notice for all cancellations or rescheduling requests. Appointments canceled or missed with less than 24 hours’ notice will be subject to the standard session fee, except in cases of true medical emergencies.
Insurance, Superbills, &
Financial Options
Clear, direct information regarding behavioral health coverage, credentialing timelines, and our accessible care models.
Q: Which insurance providers do you accept?
A: We are currently credentialed and in-network with the following major commercial insurance providers in the state of Texas:
● Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBS of TX)
● UnitedHealthcare (UHC) / Optum
● Baylor Scott & White Health (BSW)
● Aetna
● Curative
Note regarding Cigna: Our formal credentialing with Cigna is currently processing and is fully anticipated to clear by the end of this month (July ’26).
Q: What if you are currently out-of-network with my specific insurance plan?
A: If your insurance plan is not yet active in our network (such as Cigna during this brief waiting window, or other commercial carriers), we provide a regular Superbill. A superbill is an itemized, specialized medical invoice containing all necessary diagnostic and structural codes.
You can easily self-submit this document directly to your insurance company to request
out-of-network reimbursement according to your specific plan’s behavioral health benefits.
Q: What is The Serotiny Program?
A: In alignment with our practice philosophy—that intense adversity serves as the catalyst to unlock new life—we proudly offer The Serotiny Program. This is our intentionally structured sliding-scale fee model designed to ensure that financial hardship does not act as a permanent barrier to receiving elite clinical care. Spaces in the program are limited and based on financial need; please inquire during your intake call for availability and qualification guidelines.
Q: What are your rates, and do you offer a sliding scale?
A: Yes, absolutely. We believe in making mental health accessible. We provide affordable sliding scale therapy in Texas to ensure you get the care you need, regardless of your current insurance status. Until our insurance contracts are fully active, we offer customized payment structures:
- Standard Sliding Scale: We offer a flexible sliding-scale rate for the general public, adjusted based on your income and financial need by using local parameters form government-based sliding scale programs.
- First Responder Discount: To honor and support those who serve our community, we offer a specially discounted sliding-scale rate for all local first responders.
- College Students: We have a specific, accessible payment arrangement established for students referred to us directly through their College’s Counseling Center.

Keynotes, Institutional Consultation & EMS Training
Answers tailored for hospital administrators, corporate executives, state departments, and emergency service coordinators.
Q: Do you travel outside of Amarillo or the Texas Panhandle for keynotes and corporate consulting?
A: Yes. While our individual, couple, and family clinical practice is strictly virtual within Texas, our organizational consulting, structural audits, leadership framework engineering, and crisis intervention training are available for on-site deployment both statewide and nationwide. Travel logistics, expenses, and scheduling are custom-integrated into your corporate contract.
Q: Can your crisis training be customized for our specific department’s frontline culture?
A: Absolutely. Because our frameworks are built on substantial, firsthand emergency medical services (EMS) field experience and professional academia, we specialize in complete cultural alignment. Whether you are leading a municipal first responder department, a complex healthcare system, or a high-stress corporate framework, we tailor our vocabulary, scenarios, and structural tools to match your unique operational realities.
Q: How are institutional consultation contracts structured?
A: Every enterprise contract is custom-built to align perfectly with the organization’s scale, timeframe, and strategic goals. We offer flat, project-based invoicing for formal clinical or operational audits, as well as retainer-based partnerships for ongoing executive leadership development and emergency crisis debriefing support.
