Meet the Therapist
Looking for a therapist is hard work
It takes courage to acknowledge the weight you are carrying and even more courage to actively seek out a space to unpack it. You don’t need a textbook approach to therapy right now; you need a tangible, no-nonsense lifeline. I built Weeping Pines Integrated Wellness to be exactly that.
I grew up right here in Amarillo. After spending my early college years in East Texas and proudly finishing my education at Texas Tech, I spent the first 15 years of my career working in the trenches of the mental health system across Texas and Virginia.

The Clinical Years & Deep Identity Work
Before I ever put on an EMS uniform, my days were spent navigating systemic healthcare. I ran stabilization hospitals, supervised integrated behavioral health programs, and partnered directly with local police forces to provide immediate crisis intervention—including on-site negotiations talking individuals in crisis off the Robert E. Lee Bridge spanning the James River.
But my civilian practice has always been rooted in helping individuals do the deep, internal work necessary for lasting peace. I have spent years helping people understand mood disorders, guiding military veterans through the complex transition back to civilian life, and affirming youth navigating gender dysphoria.
My philosophy in this space is highly protective and thorough: I believe in prioritizing the internal psychological foundation first. External changes alone do not inherently erase internal distress, and by focusing on the deep internal work, we ensure that any path forward is built on genuine clarity, confidence, and self-acceptance.
Taking It to the Streets
After a decade and a half of clinical practice, I wanted to take my expertise out of the office and into the community. I transitioned into Emergency Medical Services and academia, joining The First Responders’ Academy at Amarillo College.
After a decade and a half of clinical practice, I wanted to take my expertise out of the office and into the community. I transitioned into Emergency Medical Services and academia, joining The First Responders’ Academy at Amarillo College.
During my time in the field, I witnessed a devastating reality: local suicide rates among first responders were rising at an alarming rate, far outpacing the national average. When I looked at the help available to our crews, I was incredibly frustrated. The resources looked good on paper, but when a responder was actually in crisis, getting help often meant fighting through red tape.
I returned to the counseling field to build the resource that was missing. Today, my therapy practice bridges the gap between the lived operational reality of the streets and a deep background in clinical mental health.

Meet Kauhlin Lewis: EMS Veteran & Intuitive Co-Pilot
I am not the only one at Weeping Pines with operational experience. I am joined in this practice by Kauhlin Lewis, my dedicated service dog and fellow EMS veteran who rode alongside me on the ambulance.
Kauhlin thrived in the operational environment. At the station, he was known for herding the crew to the vehicles the second the tones dropped. Between calls, he was a quiet, steadying presence, providing intuitive, stabilizing comfort to crews coming down from high-adrenaline runs. When we transitioned into academia, he brought that same incredible intuition to the Academy, offering silent, grounding comfort to students navigating difficult academic days or high-stakes skills testing.
While he may not be riding in the rig anymore, his legacy of steady, non-judgmental support sets the tone for every session we conduct.
A Legacy of Accessible, Statewide Care
Throughout my career, I have championed the idea that high-quality, specialized mental health care should not just be for those who can easily afford it. In Virginia, I helped run a non-profit clinic to serve the community, and that exact same mission drives Weeping Pines today. Through our sliding-scale Serotiny Program, we ensure that world-class therapy remains accessible to the community at large.
Though our physical roots are firmly planted in the Texas Panhandle, our mission extends border to border. We proudly offer flexible, 100% online therapy across the entire state of Texas. Whether you are on your couch, in your office, or parked safely in your vehicle between shifts, we are here to meet you where you are.
We don’t just treat the symptoms of the fire; we help you use it to spark new growth.
